“Southern Bank is pleased to present this check on behalf of the Southern Bank Foundation in support of the library renovation project,” said Williams. Williams said the bank prides itself on giving back to the communities it serves.
Founded in 1996, the Southern Bank Foundation makes charitable gifts and contributions in support of not-for-profit community groups and programs in areas served by Southern Bank and Trust Company. The bank has 65 locations in eastern North Carolina and Virginia, with the Bath office of the Bank located at 419 S. Carteret St. The new Bath Community Library will be housed in the former south wing of the Bath High School building on Harding St.
The Bath High School Preservation group raised funds to complete the renovation of the south wing facility where the library will be housed. The grants committee of Friends of the Bath Community Library is seeking funding for the carpeting, paint, and shelving.
