Time for brinner: Terra Ceia school serves pancakes for fundraiser

Terra Ceia Christian School’s elementary-level classes will be serving up stacks of pancakes tonight.
The “brinner” (that’s breakfast/dinner) runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and a donation is asked for entry.
“This event was formed not only to raise money for the school, but to gather around friends and family while having some good, old-fashioned pancakes and sausage for supper,” said Jon Postma, TCCS principal.
Each elementary class makes a different type of pancake. On the menu this year are blueberry, chocolate-chip, strawberry shortcake, banana-nut, plain and pumpkin pancakes.
“The pumpkin was added last year,” said Tammy McDonald, a Terra Ceia parent and part of the school’s support staff.
The fundraiser has become a TCCS tradition since it started a decade ago. McDonald has fond memories of making pancakes with her daughter at previous events. Each student teams with a family member for a 15-minute shift of food preparation.
“Every child gets a chance from kindergarten to sixth grade,” McDonald said. “Its so much fun. They love it.”
Postma said the feast would include other breakfast foods. Milk, coffee and juice will be served.
