Mrs. Nancy Ann “Nan” Wascho Ayer, a resident of the Cypress Landing Community of Chocowinity, NC, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at her home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30 p.m until the service hour at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ayer was born in Broome County, New York, on May 26, 1944, to the late Marchel A. Wascho and Marjorie B. Parsons Wascho. She was a graduate of Harpursville High School in New York and the Christian College for Women in Columbia, Missouri. On June 3, 1966, Nancy married Fosdick Whitney Ayer, Jr., who survives. Mrs. Ayer moved to Cypress Landing with her husband in 2005. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband of the home, Mrs. Ayer is survived by four children: Kimberly Sullivan of Toms River, NJ, Carole Porter and husband Patrick of Wayne, N.J., Jon Ayer and wife Antoinette of Stanhope, NJ and Leah Ayer of Santa Monica, CA., a brother: Ronnie Cheesman of Harpursville, NY, two sisters: Bonnie Johnson of Windsor, NY and Linda Cheesman of Binghamton, NY, and eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Taub Institute at Columbia University Medical Center, 630 West 168thStreet, New York, NY 10032.
