Mr. Willie Ray Buck, age 81, a resident of 2807 Gilead Shores Road, Blount’s Creek, NC died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Melvin Haas. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Buck-Hill Family Cemetery.
Mr. Buck was born in Beaufort County on February 27, 1932 son of the late John Washington Buck, Sr. and Maude Mae Lewis Buck. On December 23, 1954, Mr. Buck married the former Hazel Carolyn Walls, who survives. Mr. Buck served his country in the United States Navy for twenty years having served in the Korean Conflict and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Mr. Buck retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer/ Boiler Technician. Mr. Buck also worked for several years at Texasgulf, (now PotashCorp- Aurora). Mr. Buck was an avid fisherman, musician and wood worker. He was a member of the Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.
In addition to his loving wife Carolyn, of the home, Mr. Buck is survived by four beautiful daughters: Sandra Buck Dumpor and husband Samir of Greenville, NC, Connie Buck Ansley and husband Mark of Greenville, NC, Beverly Buck Bower of Blount’s Creek, NC and Susan Buck Grover of Pittsburgh, PA.; five grandchildren: Landon Ray Gordon, Billy Franklin Gordon, Jr., Anna Mariah Eagleston, Jacob Deacon Grover and Hannah LeNay Grover; four phenomenal great-grandchildren: Haven Davina Gordon, Charlotte Rae Gordon, Meghan Kei Gordon and Lochlan Christoff-Grover and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Buck was preceded in death by a grandson: Tony Gordon; three brothers: John Washington Buck, Jr., Waldo McCoy Buck and Sidney Wayne Buck and a sister: Adelaide B. Waters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
