Warren Jarvis, of Milton, FL died on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the age of 85.
He was born in Hyde County, North Carolina. In 1955, he married Joan McKenna, and together they adopted two children. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Warren worked for the Veterans Administration, Federal Home Loan Bank Board, Tampa Federal Savings & Loan Association, Sarasota Federal S&L, before becoming President of First Federal S&L of Winter Haven. His civic activities included serving as Salvation Army President, Winter Haven Downtown Council President, United Givers Fund President and STAR Student Program Chairman of the Congressional District. Warren relocated to Milton with Clearwater Federal’s purchase of First Federal S&L of Santa Rosa County. His civic activities included serving as Santa Rosa County Hospital Board of Trustees Chairman, Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Progressive Milton Association President, United Way of Santa Rosa County Board Member. His two greatest passions were astronomy (Escambia Amateur Astronomers’ Association) and ham radio (Milton Amateur Radio Club). Warren was a thoughtful man with a dry sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. Warren is survived by his wife, Joan and two children, Mark and Karen, grandson, Evan and two sisters: Olive Jones and Kathryn Barnes of Columbia SC. A service organized by Lewis Funeral Home will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 11 am, Friday, April 5th. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers’ Association and Milton Amateur Radio clubs. A reception will precede the service in the Parish Hall at 9:30 am. Burial will be at Barrancas Cemetery in Pensacola at 1:15 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to either the American Cancer Society or the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Building Fund in his name.
