Ms. Bessie Vick Skinner, 93, a resident of 1735 John Small Ave., Washington, NC died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Bill Mobley.. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in Rocky Mount, NC. Steven Skinner,  Jesse Skinner, Jeremiah Skinner, Sgt. Justin Smith, Phillip Cartwright and Gary Chrismon will serve as pallbearers.

Ms. Skinner was born on October 26, 1919 in Nash County to the late B. W. Vick and Julia “Lucy” Pridgen Vick. On December 24, 1937 she married the late Jesse E. Skinner, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1988. Ms. Skinner was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Original Free Will Baptist Church.

Ms. Skinner is survived by her sons: Jackie Earl Skinner and wife Brenda of Gloucester, VA and Donald E. “ Don” Skinner and wife Judy of Washington, NC, grandchildren; Steve Skinner, Susie McNulty, Jesse Skinner and Brandy Williams, step grandsons; Sgt. Justin Smith and wife Jessica, Phillip Cartwright and Lyn Cartwright, honorary granddaughter; Jenny Smith, eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Skinner is preceded in death by a son; Glen Thomas Skinner, two brothers; Ernest Wells and Roy L. Wells, a sister; Mamie Denton and a great grandson; Seany McNulty, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Sunday April 7, 2013 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
