Sherman J. Linton

Mr. Sherman Jackson Linton, age 80, a former resident of the Pungo Community of Pantego, NC died Tuesday May 21, 2013 at Vidant Pungo Hospital in Belhaven.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday May 23, 2013 at Union Grove Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private at a later date.

Mr. Linton was born in Beaufort County on January 27, 1933 son of the late John William Linton and the late Bettie Quidley Linton. He attended Pantego High School and was a farmer. Mr. Linton was a member of Union Grove Church of Christ. He was a simple man who enjoyed nature and being outdoors.

Survivors include two daughters: Betty Linton Cox and Barbara Linton Cahoon and husband Joedy all of Belhaven; a son: Edward Christopher “Chris” Linton of Williamston; two sisters: Cleta Roach and husband Bill of Belhaven and Mary Hopkins and husband David, Jr. of Nags Head; four grandchildren: Joseph Keith Jordan III and wife Susan, Heather Cox Bryant and husband Todd, Brandy Nicole Cahoon and Laura Ashley Dunbar and four great grandchildren: Zackary and Nick Jordan and Hunter and Carter Bryant.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the charity of one’s choice.
