At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Memorial Day, a report of shots fired at the H & K Mart (formerly S & K Mart) at 800 Carolina Avenue in Washington drew police to scene. A caller reported a man in a black shirt and black hat had fired shots into the store, as well as into the windows of a nearby vehicle.

Officers at the scene located damage to a vehicle in the parking lot and a freezer owned by the store, according to a press release from Lt. William Chrismon, spokesman for the Washington Police Department.

Now police are searching for Henri Demarco Hopkins, 33, of Steeplechase Drive, Washington. He is wanted on charges for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon. Hopkins fled the scene prior to officers arriving and has not been located at this time. Anyone with any knowledge of Hopkins’ whereabouts is asked to call the police department at 252-946-1444.

Additional charges may be obtained as the investigation continues and no one was injured during this crime, said the release.
