Couple arrested in pot bust

Investigators conducting surveillance on a Washington residence seized a large amount of marijuana before arresting a couple for the sale of the drug, according to a press release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.

The release said it happened on May 10: when a suspicious arrival and departure from the watched residence tipped law enforcement off, they moved to stop the vehicle leaving the residence. The department’s K-9, Elza, found 91 grams of marijuana individually packaged for resale in the vehicle and a subsequent search of the residence yielded 550 grams of the drug, according to the press release.

Dangela Asby Willard, 35, of 7508 Slatestone Road, Washington, was the driver of the vehicle.

At Willard’s home, investigators also found more marijuana, glass smoking pipes, 4 firearms and $7,950 in U.S. currency, according to the drug unit’s release.

Edward Heath Willard, 38, also of 7508 Slatestone Road was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling to facilitate drug activity and possession of drug paraphernalia. Edward Willard was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond. Dangela Willard was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana. Dangela Willard was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
