Edith S. Pugh

Edith Sadler Pugh, 92, of 219 Great Ditch Rd., Engelhard and most recently a resident of Cross Creek Health Care Center died Thursday May 30, 2013.

Born in Hyde County on November 25, 1920, the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Katie Midyette Sadler, she was married to Jack L. Pugh who preceded her in death. She was a member of Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Church and Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Women.

She spent most of her working career as a receptionist for the Hyde County Health Department and the Hyde County Schools until she retired at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Pastor Jerald Craddock will officiate. Burial will follow in Soule Cemetery.

Surviving are a son Paul W. Pugh and wife Betsy of Engelhard; daughters, Katie P. Cook and husband Kenneth of Southport, NC, Marjorie P. Brown and husband Johnny of Rose Hill, NC, Barbara P. Williams of Fairfield and Janis Simmons and husband Tom of Southport, NC; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty S. Spencer of Engelhard; a brother Ottis E. Sadler and wife Marjorie of Swan Quarter.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers H.L. Sadler, Jr. and Gervis E. Sadler.

The family will receive friends at the home place at 219 Great Ditch Rd., Engelhard.
