A man wanted by Washington Police for firing shots into a Washington business and at a nearby car was arrested Sunday night.

Henri Demarco Hopkins, 33, of Steeplechase Drive, Washington, was arrested and charged with assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of firearm by a felon, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation violation.

The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. on Memorial Day — a report of shots fired at the H & K Mart on Carolina Avenue. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of police.

According to Lt. William Chrismon, spokesman for the police department, Hopkins was arrested without incident. He was held at the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $125,500 bond.
