Jack Nicholson Mason, Jr., 69, of 133-A Emily Drive, Winterville died Friday May 31, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Born in Beaufort County, April 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Jack N., Sr. and Mary Hopkins Mason. He was married to the former Ann Hooper who survives.

Jack spent his working years as an Utilities Director for the County of Hyde serving for 30 years, he was a member of the North Carolina Rural Water Association. An avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and play golf, he truly will be missed.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Swan Quarter. Steve Bryan will officiate.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Tracy Mason Gibbs and husband Marshall of Winterville; a son, Todd Mason and wife Rebecca of Winterville; a grandson, Tyler Carawan; two granddaughters Porsha and Mary Katelyn Mason; a brother Phil Mason and wife Juanita of Belhaven; a sister in-law Pam Mason of Swan Quarter.

He was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Mason.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
