Leslie D. Saleeby

Ms. Leslie Davis Saleeby, age 78, a resident of 108 Ridgewood Lane, Washington, NC, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Leonard Hopkins. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington.

Ms. Saleeby was born in Wilson County on September 9, 1934 to the late Romer Davis and Eva Tetterton Davis. She graduated from Rock Ridge High School in Wilson County. In October 1962, she married Eli Najeeb Saleeby, who preceded her in death on December 6, 1996. Ms. Saleeby had a long career working as a receptionist at Beaufort County Hospital (now Vidant Beaufort Hospital) having begun working, at the hospital, as a volunteer in 1982. With her husband, Eli, Ms. Saleeby owned and operated several businesses in the area including Beaufort Sporting Center. Ms. Saleeby was a founding member of the A-Z Doll Club of Washington, a member of the Red Hat Society and was a former member of the Women of the Moose. Ms. Saleeby enjoyed collecting dolls and antiques. She was of the Methodist faith.

Ms. Saleeby is survived by two children: Eva Elizabeth Adell Saleeby Ford and husband Jeffrey of Greenville, NC and Michael Najeeb Saleeby and wife Carol of Grifton, NC, five grandchildren: Michael Sean Saleeby of Washington, NC, Joseph Kyle Saleeby of Grifton, NC, Courtney Lane Ford of Asheville, NC, Leanne Ford of Greenville, NC and Shannon Elizabeth Ford of Washington, NC, and a great grandson: Neil Ryan Selby of Washington, NC.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Saleeby is preceded in death by a grandson: Eli Saleeby Lee.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, prior to the service, from 12:30p.m. until the service hour at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, NC.
