The folks at First Christian Church plan to make a few new friends today. They will have a free Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the first of its kind in years, said Diana Cates, chairwoman of the Evangelism Committee.
“I’m hoping the community is going to come and enjoy themselves,” Cates said. “I’ve tried to get our entire church involved. “We’ve just been working really hard.”
The hardest part of the plan may have been collecting bicycles to give away. Eight kids will be going home with a bike. The bikes came from church groups and a grant from Walmart.
“I just asked and I received,” Cates said. “I’m gonna be giving away some … toys, too.”
There will be live music, cake walks, face painting dunking booths and a jumping house. The church will also have
popcorn, hot dogs and homemade ice cream.
Church members will be available to sign up children for next week’s vacation Bible school.
“We’re going to have a prayer booth if anybody has concerns or something,” Cates said.
Church elders and the associate minister will be at the booth for prayer and support.
