Marvin “Ray” Whitehurst, age 77, a resident of Maple Lane, Washington, NC passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. A graveside celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC.

Ray was born November 12, 1935 in Beaufort County, son of the late Gladys Whitehurst. He was a retired farmer and has also worked as a plumber and in lawn maintenance. Ray has lived in Beaufort County his entire life and attended Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Ray is survived by numerous cousins and friends and his companion cat “Bad Boy”.
