Tyrrell County Public Library to Hold Fundraiser
Published 2:57 pm Monday, July 29, 2013
The Tyrrell County Public Library in collaboration with the local chapter of Friends of the Library will be having a Lasagna Fund Raiser on Monday, August 26th. Tickets will go on sale beginning, Wednesday, July 31. These will be take-out plates only! The proceeds raised during this event will be used to match funds for the Libri Grant.
The Libri Foundation’s main purpose through its “Books for Children” program is to assist rural libraries in the acquisition of new, quality, hardcover books for children. The foundation works with local Friends of the Library Groups, or other local organizations to promote community involvement to encourage local support of libraries. Contributions from local organizations usually range from $50 to $350, which the foundation matches on a two-to-one ratio. Applications for this particular grant are only available once every three years. In 2010, the Tyrrell County Public Library became a recipient of this grant. The rewards of this application made it possible for the library to update the collections of children’s and juvenile fiction and nonfiction books.
The take-out Lasagna Dinner Plates for this event will be limited. There will only be 100 plates available to the public. Tickets can be purchased for $8.00 at the Tyrrell County Public Library. Plates can be picked-up at the library on the 26th between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. The meal will consist of a generous portion of homemade lasagna, a garden salad with dressing and garlic bread. Be sure to purchase your tickets early and plan on not cooking supper/dinner on the first day of school for the children. So, mark your dates, and plan to support your local library during this fundraiser. If you have questions, please contact the staff at 796-3771. Your financial support for this event can help give the area children a gift to last a lifetime–the wonderful world of books.
