Water district to experiece outages
Published 4:40 pm Monday, August 12, 2013
The water customers of Beaufort County Water District VII will experience outages and periods of low pressure in the distribution system as a result of water-line repairs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
The outage will affect all customers east of Aurora and includes customers on Bay City Road north of West Road, Royal Highway, Spring Creek Road, Vinegar Hill Road, Terrerton Road, Whealton Point Road, Indian Island Road, N.C. Highway 33 east of South Creek and all feeder or intersecting roads. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Therefore, the water system advises that when water is restored, consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
Water customers are urged to conserve water whenever possible. This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.
