Alvin L. Jackson, 69, of Havelock, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern.

He was a retired Vietnam veteran with 20 years of service in the U.S. Army and served as an elder with the Cherry Point Church of Christ.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the Cherry Point Church of Christ, Havelock.

Ashes are to be spread over his favorite hunting grounds by the family at the beginning of hunting season.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cratch Jackson; and one daughter, Sherine Denese Edwards of Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Cherry Point Church of Christ, 279 Shipman Road, Havelock, NC 28532.
