Maxine “Joyce” Godley

Mrs. Maxine “Joyce” Mason Godley, age 79, a resident of 10450 NC Hwy. 92 East, Bath died Monday September 16, 2013 at her home.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday September 19, 2013 at Yeatesville Cemetery officiated by Craig Hagen. Gregory Clayton, Danny Clayton, Martin Webb, Randy Merrill, Mark Rinker and Clint Davis will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Godley was born in Beaufort County on September 14, 1934, daughter of the late William Nichols Mason and Annie Beacham Mason. On September 8, 1951, she married Jack Burbage Godley, who survives. Mrs. Godley was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard. She was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ and managed landscaping and flower beds for a while. She always wanted to lend a helping hand where and when needed.
In addition to her husband, Jack of the home, she is survived by her son: Frank Michael “Mike” Godley of Bath; her daughter: Tammy Joyce Godley Kuenzi and husband Rudy of Greenville; her grandchild: Chandler Dylann Kuenzi of Greenville and her sister: Helen Pauline Mason Clayton and husband W. Edward Clayton of Belhaven. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister: Doris Christine Mason Paul; her brother: Roscoe Beacham Mason and her half-sister: Katherine Elizabeth Mason Slade.
The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at her home.
