GREENVILLE — Abe R. Corey went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 pm in the Potter’s Place Church of God, on Old Creek Road. Burial will follow in Roberson Cemetery in Jamesville.
Abe was born in Martin County on May 26, 1939 and came to live in Greenville in January of 1968. He worked for J.H. Hudson Construction Company for 17 years before becoming self-employed for a few years. He finished out his career with Miller Construction Company before retiring to his workshop. He was a member of Potter’s Place Church of God.
Abe was known by his many friends and loved ones as a hard worker and devoted family man. If he wasn’t by his wife’s side, Abe could be found running errands, working in the garden or standing in his workshop.
Abe was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Ruth Corey; brother, George Corey; and a sister, June Melanson.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Angela; daughters, Pam Corey of Raleigh and Penny Corey of Greenville; son, Tim Corey and wife, Karen, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Chad Corey, Caroline Corey, and Courtney Paul and husband, Brad of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Addisyn Paul; two step-grandchildren, Katie and Hunter Harris; brother, Wilson Corey of Jamesville; sister in law, Debbie Schneider and husband, Art and their daughter, (Abe’s God daughter) Kara; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Friday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
