Rick Swain

Mr. Richard “Rick” Black Swain, age 59, a resident of 20456 NC Hwy. 32 N., Plymouth, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 18, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Burke Holland. Burial will follow in the Smithton Cemetery.

 

Rick was born March 18, 1954 son of the late Walton E. Swain and Matilda “Tillie” Bowen Swain who survives. He was a 1972 graduate of Plymouth High School and was a vibration specialist with Dontar in Plymouth with 41 years of service. On January 14, 1984 he married Anita Catherine Smith who survives. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Plymouth.

 

Survivors include his mother, Matilda “Tillie” Bowen Swain of Washington, his wife, Anita Smith Swain of the home, two daughters, Ashley S. Mason and husband Brett of Swan Quarter, Mallori Swain and special friend, Barrett Marshall of Fairfield, one grandson, Allen Mason, five sisters, Barbara Barnett and Joann Thomas both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Gloria J. Webster and husband Buddy of Pinetown, Brenda Black of Danville, Virginia, Sharon Harper of Moore, South Carolina, four brothers, Elbert Black and wife Carol of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Buddy Black and wife Cathy of Florida, Terry Black and wife Tracy of Washington, Ronnie Black and wife Betty of Plymouth, two brothers-in-law, Fred Smith, III of Belhaven, Michael Smith and wife Debbie of Belhaven, sister-in-law, Valla Phelps and husband Tim of Windsor and many nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
