Mrs. Irene Martinez, age 51, a resident of 207 Steeplechase Drive, Washington, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held 6:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Jovany Angeles, Daimir Angeles, Robin Romero, Abimal Santamaria, Camerino Salina, Adair Lopez, Cristian Cristales, and Kevin Chavez.

Mrs. Martinez was born in Mexico on June 26, 1962. She was the daughter of Petra Gonzalez Villanueva and the late Camerino Gonzalez Villeda. Mrs. Martinez worked at Care-O-World Day Care Center in Washington. She enjoyed caring for children. In her spare time, she loved gardening and flowers.

On October 9, 1999, she married Jorge Alberto Martinez, who survives.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, Joseph Martinez, Ivan Gonzalez, Juan Manuel Cruz; a daughter, Iris Cruz; her mother, Petra Gonzalez Villanueva of Washington; her siblings, Justa Gonzalez Villanueva of Mexico, Sabina Cristales Gonzalez of Washington, Anita Gonzalez Villanueva of Florida, Fermin Gonzalez Villanueva of Washington, Jose Manuel Gonzalez of the USA, Margarita Gonzalez Villanueva of Ocracoke, Clarita Gonzalez Villanueva of the USA, Salome Gonzalez Villanueva of Washington and Araceli Gonzalez Villanueva of Ocracoke.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by a brother, Emilio Gonzalez Villanueva.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory.
