The Community Advisory Committee in Beaufort County works to maintain the spirit of the Residents’ Bill of Rights for residents residing in nursing homes, adult care homes and family care homes. It promotes community involvement and cooperation with long-term care facilities to ensure quality care for the elderly and disabled. The committee serves all long-term care facilities in the county and works with each home in the best interests of the persons residing there. In carrying out its responsibilities, the committee works closely with the Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and facility administrators.
The committee forwards data and pertinent information to the regional ombudsman who forwards it to the State Division of Aging. The Division compiles and evaluates this information to identify gaps and deficiencies in the long-term care system and to initiate efforts at the State level to bring about needed changes.
These individuals are appointed to serve on a volunteer basis by the Beaufort County Commissioners.
They are Mary Brooks, Florence Lodge, Ida Wimbush, Zula Bailey and Sandra Whittle-Hughes.
They show outstanding dedication to maintaining resident’s quality of life. Unfortunately, at times, they are the only eyes and ears some residents have. Please let them know how much we appreciate them for role they play as advocates for our residents residing in LTC.
