Douglas Linwood Tunnell, 71, of Swan Quarter, died Dec. 17, 2013, at his residence after battling prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. The burial and funeral celebration will be held at Soule Cemetery today, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. Following that, the family will receive visitors at their home, 20688 U.S. Highway 264, Swan Quarter, NC 27885.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Linwood “Speedy” Benson Tunnell and Mary Lucille Berry Tunnell; and sister, Doris Tunnell.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Tunnell; son Ken and wife Debbie; son Greg and wife Jena (grandchildren Alex, Candace Chilcoat and husband KC, Valerie, Seth, Zack, Heather, Jenna; great-grandchild Edward Chilcoat); daughter Susan Smith and husband Steve (grandchildren Daniel, Brandon, Grace, James, Amanda, Cora, Maggie, Lillie); daughter Karen Mason and husband Matthew (grandchildren Victoria, Hannah, Caroline, Jesse, Jacob); son Stephen; son Jonny; daughter-in-law Heather; son Joah and wife Emma (grandchild Madeleine); daughter Sarah Myers and husband Justin (grandchildren Levi, Ian, Jason).
