OBIT SPENCER

Daphne Duke Spencer, 91, passed away on December 18, 2013, She was a native of Bath, NC, and the daughter of the late William Hilton and Dell Neal Duke. She spent most of her life in New Holland in Hyde County and moved to Elizabeth City in 2007, She was a past member of the Soule United Methodist Church in Hyde County and more recently a member of First United Methodist Church in Elizabeth City. Daphne was loved by everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Bonnie O’Neal; their son, Richard S. O’Neal and wife Nicole; and their two children, Carly and Caden. She is also survived by her stepson and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Myra Spencer; their children, Dawn Armstrong and husband Darren, Heather Balance and husband Marcus and Stuart Spencer and wife Miranda; and their children. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Dick O’Neal; her second husband Ray M. Spencer; and by a son, Richard D. O’Neal.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth City. A second memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,  December 21, 2013 at Soule United Methodist Church. Internment will follow at Soule Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Elizabeth City, Soule United Methodist Church in Swan Quarter, or a charity of one’s choice.
