Mr. Thomas Reginald Garris, 47, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 3 pm in the Greenville Church of God by the Rev. Daylon Mooneyham. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Garris, a native of Pitt County, was a 1985 graduate of D. H. Conley High School. For 25 years, he had been employed with NACCO Materials Handling Group as a technician. He was a member of the Greenville Church of God, where he served as deacon, usher and on the advisory board. He also was a leader of the Royal Rangers, and founder of the God’s Gift Outdoor Youth Ministry and Hunting Group.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edsel Garris;
He is survived by his wife of three years, Charman Garris; son, Tommy Garris, of Greenville; stepchildren, Nathan Skinner, of the home and Karelyn Cocoran and husband, Joey, of Greenville; mother, Janet McLawhorn and husband, Kenneth, of Winterville; and brother, Buddy Garris and wife, Elaine, of Grifton.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 pm until the funeral hour at the church.
