Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested a Washington man and charged him with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The sheriff’s office received a report of a sexual assault on Whootentown Road in Washington on Jan. 9. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the report indicated the victim was forcibly raped in a vehicle on the shoulder of the road.

Investigator Jeremy Landeck obtained warrants charging Hallie Holloway III (aka Ronnie), 41, of West Third Street in Washington with second-degree rape, statutory rape of a person 13,14, or 15 years old by a defendant more than six years older than the victim, and indecent liberties with a child.

“The state of North Carolina sees age 16 as the age of consent so the fact that she was under the age of 16 and it was forcible rape represent two different offenses,” said Maj. Kenneth Watson, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

After the warrants were obtained, Holloway voluntarily came in to the Magistrates’ Office on Jan. 13. He was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $300,000 secured bond.
