Bonnie Jean Countryman Alligood

July 27, 1928 – Jan. 18, 2014

Bonnie Jean Countryman Alligood, age 85, a resident of Bright Rd. #2, Washington, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by family. There will be a graveside celebration of her life at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24, in Oakdale Cemetery, officiated by Dwight Alligood and Melissa Clark. Ray Alligood, Lane Alligood, Ralph Slade, Olive Goddley, Beulah H. Woolard and Donald Clark will serve as pallbearers. Danny Bright, Hallie Mae Roberson, John Reason and Gladys Winstead will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family is receiving friends at the home daily.

Ms. Alligood was born July 27, 1928, in Sioux Falls, S.D., daughter of the late Ray Hugh Countryman and Mamie Harris Countryman. When she was eight years old her family moved to California. She was married to Kelly Alligood who preceded her in death. Ms. Alligood farmed with her husband and had also worked at Britthaven of Washington. She attended Beaufort County Community College and was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.

She is survived by her sons, Harris Ray and Ricky Lyman Alligood both of Washington and Dwight Kelly Alligood of Atlanta; a special daughter, Sue Crigger; her sister, Helen Reason of Washington; her grandchildren, Kelly Ray Alligood and Melissa Dawn Clark; her great grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth and Zoe Clark; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Woolard Alligood;  her adopted daughter, Sue Lewis; her adopted granddaughter, Ashely Reason; her years-long pen pal, Shirley Harrington Moore; and her confidant Teresa Weaver.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry, Raymond, Harris and Bertrium Countryman; her sisters, Edna Moxon and Eileen Countryman; and her confidant, Debra Reason.
