Mrs. Lois Christine Waters Rose, age 81, a resident of 19401 NC Hwy. 32 N., Pantego, died Monday, February 10, 2014 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Billy Ray Askew. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Rose’s grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Rose was born in Beaufort County on May 23, 1932 to the late Heber Hardy Johnson and Louise Kathleen Waters. On January 15, 1949, she married Benjamin “ Hambone” Rose, who preceded her in death on November 19, 1998. Mrs. Rose graduated from Beaufort County Community College in 1972 as a licensed practical nurse. She worked as LPN at Beaufort County Hospital for twenty years until her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Rose was a member of the Terra Ceia Church of Christ.
Mrs. Rose is survived by a son, Benny Hilton Rose and wife Sharon of Pantego, NC, three daughters, Margaret R. Mayo of Purcellville, VA, Frances R. Cook and husband Ralph of Colonial Beach, VA and Louise R. Jordan and husband Joe of Bath, NC, a brother, Steve Trent Waters and wife Linda of Pinetown, NC, five grandchildren, Davida Burkhammer, Jessica Adams, Ian Rose, Jason Rose and Shiloh Rose, five great grandchildren, Jordan Rose, Blake Brown, Peyton Adams, Jared Burkhammer and Mallory Adams and her faithful companion, Teddy.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rose is preceded in death by a sister, Janice Waters Taylor and a stepfather, Bonner Warren Waters.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6:30p.m.-8:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home located at 19401 NC Hwy 32 North, Pantego, NC.
