Pamlico Writers deadline looms

From Pamlico Writer’s Group
Sometimes getting the word out is just a matter of putting up a sign.
A case in point is the upcoming Pamlico Writers Conference to be held March 8 at the Washington Civic Center. Newspaper articles, a computer email campaign, an extensive web site, and word of mouth has failed to produce appropriate numbers of needed registrations. The Feb. 23 deadline for the literary competition is approaching.
Our solution is a good old fashion sign.
With proper approvals from town officials and the waterfront commission, we’ve claimed the corner of Main and Gladden Streets. It’s the site with the picnic table usually occupied by diners in good lunch weather or musicians at the Music on the Streets festival. There are oak trees and the colorful crab sculpture that make the corner noticeable. Maybe our professional sign will communicate our message to cars waiting at the stoplight.
If you zoom past too fast to read, visit our web site at www.pamlicowritersconference.org. You’ll find conference details and be able to register online. You may also enter our competition online until Feb. 23.
For the computer phobic, you may register for the conference and enter the competition in person at the Turnage Theater Box Office. Registration is $49 (includes a box lunch) for the full day. Better hurry!
