DRESS DRIVE: Northside senior Eliza Bowen collects dresses from AVA Formals for her community service project Pearl’s Prom Boutique. Last year, Bowen collected over 100 dresses to clothe her peers around the county wishing to attend proms. Bowen has collected an additional 20 to 30 dresses this year and still encourages people to continue to donate prom dresses and accessories. Drop boxes are located at The Beaufort Hyde Partnership for Children behind Belk’s in Washington, The Foxy Florist and Gifts in Belhaven and the Belhaven Public Library. Also, teens who attend The Path at First Church of Christ can bring dresses to the next scheduled Path on March 30. Pearl’s Prom Boutique will be held on Saturday, Mar. 29 at First Church of Christ in Washington and Saturday, Apr. 12 at First Christian Church in Belhaven. The boutiques will be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Appointments can be made for times outside operating hours.
