Mr. Glenn A. Cushing, age 61, a resident of 431 E. Main St, Washington died, Sunday March 16, 2014 at his home.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the First Christian Church and will be conducted by Dr. Michael Price.
Mr. Cushing was born on January 9, 1953 in Bay Shore, NY to the late Edward and Mabel Reinertsen Cushing. On May 16, 1998 he married Teresa Lynn Speller who survives. He graduated from Hazelwood High School in St. Louis County, Missouri and retired as the Operations & Pretreatment Supervisor of the City of Washington where he worked for 31 years.
Mr. Cushing served as a deacon at the First Christian Church, was an avid sailing enthusiast and was a past member of the Pamlico Sailing Club. He loved living in Washington and he truly loved his family.
Glenn is survived by his wife Teresa Cushing of the home, two sons Gregory and wife Melanie of Washington, and Philip Cushing of Sullivan, MO, one daughter Alison Mesger and husband Christopher, one sister Joanne Dramstad and husband Ralph of Washington, two brothers Ronald Cushing and wife Rosel of Midlothian, VA, Douglas Cushing and his wife Marti of Bath, four grandchildren Alexandria Hodson, Cayden Cushing, Alan Cushing, Emma Mesger, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cushing is preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Cushing and two sisters, Arlene Hagar and Carol Lee Gentile.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to First Christian Church, 401 E. 2nd St., Washington, NC 27889 or Vidant Hospice, 1005 W.H. Smith Blvd., Greenville, NC 27835.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the parlor of the First Christian Church and other times at the home.
