MECHS | CONTRIBUTED CUPBOARD KINGS: Three members of the Mattamuskeet Early College High School (MECHS) Cabinet Making class will be competing at the NC Skills CTE Conference on April 9-12. Mr. Butch Harris, Cabinet Making Teacher, having taken several students in the past who placed in this state competition, will be taking several students this year, including Olivia Brickhouse, a MECHS senior and the first female competitor in the contest. Harris said that Brickhouse is one of his most talented students to date. Brickhouse is considering woodworking as a future profession. The two other students who will be attending the conference, Ryan Godley and Preston Bartell, also exceptional students in Cabinet Making and Wood Tech, have many outstanding projects to their credit. Pictured here are students Brickhouse, Bartell and Godley.
