Alexander Thalmann

February 3, 1992 – March 31, 2014

 

Alexander Edward Thalmann, 22, of Washington, died March 31, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center.  He was born February 3, 1992, in San Bernardino, California where he was adopted at birth by his mother, Stacey Thalmann.

Alex and his mother moved to Washington park, NC in 1994, where he graduated from Washington High School. He was an avid and talented soccer player.

Alex was an active volunteer with the Pamlico Tar River Foundation.

Alex enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, completing his training at MCRD Parris Island on 5 May, 2011. He served with Combat Logistics Battalion 451 of the 4th Marine Logistics Group.

Alex completed Basic School at Beaufort County Community College in June of 2013. He joined the New Bern Police Department in August of 2013. He was honored and proud to serve his community as a police officer.

Charismatic and exceptionally wise beyond his young age, he is loved and will be missed by everyone his life touched.

He is survived by his mother Stacey Thalmann of Washington; his twin sister, Jennifer D. Korman, his sister, Allie Romig,  one brother, Joseph Koontz,  his aunt, Brenda Thalmann of Durham; and cousins, Amanda Thalmann and Katherine Smith.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm and from 6:00-9:00 Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Hillside Funeral Home in Washington, NC. His funeral service will be held at  2:00 pm Friday, April 4, 2014 at Temple Baptist Church in New Bern.  Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Officer Alexander Thalmann Memorial Fund at First Citizens Bank.
