WILMA ALLEN SAFRIET
Aug. 3, 1928 – April 9, 2014
Wilma Allen Safriet, 85, of Statesville passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Hospice House of Wake County, in Raleigh.
Born Aug. 3, 1928, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Lenora Beck Allen and John Buren Allen.
She was educated in the Cleveland schools and was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Cleveland High School. She also graduated from Pfeiffer Junior College, Misenheimer.
Mrs. Safriet was employed for the Beaufort County Department of Social Services before retiring.
She was a past member of South River United Methodist Church and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. William Safriet on August 26, 1995, her brothers, Jake, Sylvester, S.B. and John Allen.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Philip Safriet and Genie of Raleigh, and Dan Safriet and wife Julie of Wake Forest; sister, Dolly Cranford of Woodleaf; brothers, Bill Allen and wife Lynne of Cleveland and Ted Allen and wife Vivian of Woodleaf; grandchildren, Gentry Ellis-Safriet, Stephen Safriet and Katherine Safriet.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Summersett Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, April 14 at the Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Snipes. Interment will follow at the Historic Salisbury National Cemetery, Military St., Salisbury.
