JUNIOR W. CARROW

Jan. 17, 1938 – April 15, 2014

 

Junior Watson (J.W.) Carrow, age 76, of Washington; a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 15, 2014.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be officiated by Eddie Bowen, minister of Old Ford Church of Christ where the Carrows are members.  Music will be provided by Loretta and Churchill Hodges and Eddie Bowen.  Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The following will serve as pallbearers:  Joe Ayers, J.F. Edwards, J.A. Jackson, Jeff Mault, Mat Nguyen, and Earl Warren.

J.W. was born in Pitt County, North Carolina on January 17th, 1938, the son of the late Lemon Watson Carrow and Artie “Bennett” Carrow Tuten.  J.W. worked at the Newport News Shipyard, Hackney and Sons, Inc. and National Spinning, Inc.  He also had a successful career in real estate, owning and managing with his wife Carolyn, many rental properties in the Washington area.  Their vision was to provide affordable housing and they succeeded in providing homes for many families throughout the years.  J.W. was extremely proud of their accomplishments in helping others.  He was an honest, simple and humble man with a great sense of humor; he always provided for his family and others before himself.

J.W. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Asby Carrow; son Kirk Watson Carrow of Greenville, NC; daughters Kitty Carrow  Rutherford (Jim) of Cary, NC, Karen Carrow Bracy of Jacksonville, NC;  grandson Kyle Richard McGimsey of Boone, NC;  two sisters, Joyce Carrow Pridgen of Washington, NC and Melva Carrow Walter of Lititz, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by his brother; Johnie Ray Carrow.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

A special thanks to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, Dr. John Inzerillo and Community Care & Hospice for their compassion and care during his lengthy illness.
