CAROL WEST | CONTRIBUTED LEGACY: At the Survivor Sundae social, hosted by the Beaufort County Relay for Life, survivors were honored for their continued fight against cancer. Highlights of the program included an “Overcomers” video created by Carol Boyd West, co-chair, from past Relay pictures and events. Mrs. Joan Dixon, a 10-year cancer survivor, also gave an inspirational message titled “Why I Relay,” crediting her involvement to family and friends. Dixon was one of four generations present. Pictured is her mother, Freddie Haddock, a 16-year survivor; her daughter Dawn Johnson, the Relay for Life chairman of Beaufort County; and her granddaughter, Sara Selby, a high school student and volunteer.
