Ruth Ann McDowell Taylor, age 72, a resident of the Cypress Landing Community, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at her home. There will be a celebration of her life at 11:00 am, Friday, May 16, at First Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Todd Parrish and Pastor Darren Walker. A private burial will be held at Martin Memorial Gardens.
John Dorofee III, Taylor Hill, Billy Taylor, Steve Taylor, Michael Moore, and Darren Walker will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends today from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC and other times at the home.
Mrs. Taylor was born October 28, 1941 in Greenwood, Del., daughter of the late Robert and Anna McDowell. She was married to James Harrell Taylor on October 17, 1964, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Taylor retired in 2000 as the Personnel Manager for Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Women Active for Christ and Hope Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughters, Joanna Anglin and husband Jim of Clayton and Lisa Hill and husband Alan of Chocowinity; her grandchildren, Matthew Smith and Madison and Reagan Bunting, all of Chocowinity and Christian and Danielle Anglin of Clayton; and her sisters, Jean O’Bier of Greenwood, DE and Virginia Dorofee of Lewis, Del.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother James McDowell.
