Mrs. Helen Smith Jackson, age 79, a resident of 107 Northwest Ave., North Shores, Washington, died Thursday, May 15, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Fred Wilson. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. David Moore Jr., Kevin Craig, Michael Spencer Sr., Michael Spencer Jr., Joey Shore and Randy Jackson will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Beaufort County on August 23, 1934 to the late Thomas and Mary Windley Smith. She married James S. “Jack” Jackson who preceded her in death on August 3, 2005. She was a 1952 graduate of Pantego and a 1954 graduate of Chowan College. She retired after 38 years of service with WITN-TV where she started as a secretary for W.R. Roberson Jr. and finished her career in sales. She was a longtime member of Unity Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Paulette O. Moore and husband David of Washington, Lori J. Maurer and husband Daniel of Robbinsville, N.J., two sons, Wesley C. O’Mary of Nashville, NC, Keith O’Mary and wife Anabelle of Charlotte, NC, one brother, Howard Smith of West Palm Beach, FL, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
