May 11, 1947 – May 15, 2014

Mrs. Vivian Buck Elks, age 87, a resident of 756 Elks Road, Chocowinity, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her home.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, conducted by Pastor Henry Horne.

Mrs. Elks’ grandsons: Stephen Elks, James Elks, Vann Elks, Timothy Elks, Darrell Ange, and Robbie Bullock.  Jason Sheppard will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Elks was born Beaufort County on October 11, 1926.  She was the daughter of the late Jessie Bryant Buck and Velma Hodges Buck.  Mrs. Elks was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.    Mrs. Elks was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and daughter.

On May 11, 1947, she married Ralph Watson Elks, who survives.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph of the home; three children, Ralph Watson Elks, Jr. and wife Gloria, Diana Elks Watson and husband, Lawrence, Darrell Vann Elks and wife, Janet all of Chocowinity; four sisters, Janice Boyd of Blounts Creek, Audrey P. Moore and husband, Aubrey of Chocowinity, Carolyn Williams and husband, Terry of Chocowinity, Evelyn Buck of Cottonwood, AZ; brother, Frank Buck and wife, Valerie of Washington; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elks was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Elks and Aileen Mills; and four brothers, Joseph Buck, Ted Buck, Delon Buck and Jimmy Buck.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM Saturday prior to the graveside service at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at her home.
