Historic Bath Site Offers Pirate-themed Summer Day Camps

Annual “Past Times Day Camp” Program honors the Queen Anne’s Revenge traveling exhibit’s visit to Historic Bath Site

Come and explore the Queen Anne’s Revenge traveling exhibit in a truly unique and fun way at Historic Bath State Historic Site! Children aged 4-15 are able to, on different days, learn about, and experience, the life of a pirate!

Though Bath is, of course, known for being the ‘First Town, First Port” of North Carolina, it also known for one particular individual: Blackbeard. The Queen Anne’s Revenge exhibit has been traveling around North Carolina this year, and has finally made its way to Bath, where much of it’s ever-famous pirate’s history and legend has been made. The “Pirate Past Times Day Camp” will focus on bringing history alive for children through age-appropriate activities, games, interactive demonstrations, looks into the travelling exhibit, and more!

 

Scheduled Dates and Times for “Pirate Past Times Day Camp”, as well as pre-registration deadlines for all dates, are as follows:

 

Thursday, June 19^th and Thursday, July 10^th; 10a.m.-2p.m. – ages 4-7

Pre-registration/Payment deadline: Friday, June 13^th and Thursday, July 3^rd

 

Thursday, June 26^th and Thursday, July 17^th; 10a.m.-2p.m. – ages 8-11

Pre-registration/Payment deadline: Friday, June 20^th and Friday, July 11^th

 

Thursday, July 3^rd and Thursday, July 24^th; 10a.m. – 2p.m. – ages 12-15

Pre-registration/Payment deadline: Friday, June 27^th and Friday, July 18^th.

 

Pre-registration is required to join the Day Camps. Please call (252)-923-3971, or come by the Visitor Center at 207 Carteret Street Bath, NC 27808, to pre-register. We only have space for 20 children per day camp.

The cost for each program is $10 per child and includes lunch and all activities. Payment needs to be made by the pre-registration deadline.

Historic Bath State Historic Site is one of the sites within the Department of Cultural Resources’ Division of State Historic Sites & Properties that people can visit to learn of our state’s interesting and varied history. Historic Bath is also a member of the Historic Albemarle Tour. Bath is a town of firsts! The town became North Carolina’s first town; it was incorporated in 1705. Christopher Gale, the first chief justice of the colony, resided here. Bath became the first official port of entry for the colony, the location of the first public library in North Carolina and the first shipyard was established here. Visiting Bath today, it is easy to see how this protected little harbor appealed to early settlers, and, of course, Blackbeard.

To begin your experience, come by the Visitor Center to purchase tickets to take a guided tour through our two historic homes, the Palmer-Marsh House (1751) and the Joseph Bonner House (1830). Watch the 15 minute orientation video and visit our museum store. The Van Der Veer House hosts exhibits, and there are gardens, graveyards belonging to our historic homes and Bonner’s Point to explore.
