Virginia “Ginger” Gerard Mickey

Greensboro – Virginia “Ginger” Gerard Mickey, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 17,2014 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro.
A 10:00 a.m. memorial service will be held at First Moravian Church, 304 S, Elam Avenue in Greensboro on Saturday, June 21st. Interment will follow at God’s acre cemetery in Winston Salem, NC at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon at her home and at a reception following the memorial service.
Ginger was born in Washington, NC on December 28,1946 to the late Walter and Virginia Gerard. She taught math at MendenhalLMiddle, UNCG, and New Garden Friends School as well as tutoring numerous students over the years. She owned and operated The Gingerbread House of Miniatures for over 18 years and was an active member of First Moravian Church. Ginger was blessed with a strong church family and many close friends.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, David Charles Mickey, Sr. and brother, Thaddeus Hodges Gerard.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Feulner & husband Brett, and her son, David Mickey, Jr. and wife Lauren. Grandchildren, Carter and Parker Feulner, David, Taylor and Allison Mickey, Also surviving is a brother, Walter B, “Bubba” Gerard as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to First Moravian Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
