April 1, 1924  – July 22, 2014

Mr. Leonard Michael Jakubowski, age 90, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Leonard was born in East Moline, IL on April 1, 1924 son of the late Conrad Cornelius Jakubowski and the late Helen Rose Brotkowski Jakubowski.  Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He married the former Joy Joann Johnson in November of 1952 who preceded him in death on December 11, 1975.  Mr. Leonard was self-employed as a carpenter until his retirement and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include two sons: Stephan Jakubowski and his wife Mimi of Pinetown and Matthew Jakubowski and his wife Christine of Eagan, MN; a daughter: Vicki Allison and her husband Robert of Davenport, IA; a brother: Michael Jakubowski of Wild Rose, WI; a sister: Clara Hoppa of Sheboygan Falls, WI and eleven grandchildren.  He was predeceased along with his parents by a son: Michael Jakubowski, four brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family requests for memorial contributions to be made to the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation, P.O. Box 1854, Washington, NC 27889.
