BARBARA WESTON MEEKINS

Oct. 26, 1936 – Sept. 2, 2014

Barbara Weston Meekins, 77, of Engelhard died Tuesday September 2, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville

Born in Hyde County October 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Hadley and Eunice Blake Weston. She was married to Gordon W. Meekins who survives.

She was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church and worked for the former East Carolina Bank for 14 years. She was known for her willingness to do anything to help others and being a good person.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Rev. Scott Sukeforth will officiate.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kay Frances Gibbs of Chapel Hill, Mary Ann Greene and husband Glenn of Youngsville, NC; a son, Flave Gibbs, Jr. of Brunswick, GA; one granddaughter, Katherine Green; two stepsons, Dell Meekins and wife Karen of Engelhard, Michael Meekins and wife Beverly of Engelhard; two stepdaughters, Susie M. Newman and husband Tommy of Swan Quarter, Nancy M. Lewis and husband Chip of  Ladson, SC; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Jennette and husband Tommy of Engelhard.

The family will receive friends at the home place on 85 Lazy Lane, Engelhard.
