CELEBRATION: The Washington-Beaufort Chamber of Commerce presented the Building a Better Tomorrow Today award to Lee Chevrolet Buick of Washington on Wednesday where representatives from Lee Chevrolet, the WBCOC, Chamber Ambassadors, friends and family gathered to celebrate the business’ community involvement.

A local business was recognized Wednesday for its continuing community support and involvement.

Lee Chevrolet Buick of Washington was presented the Building a Better Tomorrow Today award from the Washington-Beaufort Chamber of Commerce for its generous support of the community and philanthropic spirit, according to WBCOC Director Catherine Glover. Lee Chevrolet, a family-owned and operated business that supports many organizations and events in the community, is a prime example of an American business, Glover said.

“Lee Chevrolet Buick is a great example of that,” Glover said. “They are obviously very generous with our community and usually you don’t see an event that [it] hasn’t supported or been a supporter of. They are just good, not only to their customers but also to the community. Their philanthropic efforts in the community have been very generous and we are thankful for that.”

The decision to give the award to Lee Chevrolet came from the Chamber Ambassadors, a group under the Chamber that helps support Chamber events and gives awards like the one given to Lee, Glover said. The award is given on a quarterly basis to a business or organization that is committed to making the community a better place to live. Lee Chevrolet Owner Steve Lee accepted the award on behalf of the dealership.

“We’re humbled and honored to get such an award,” Lee said. “We’re fortunate that we’ve been able to give back to the community and help support civic organizations and community events that come along from the sports programs to the schools, but Lee Chevrolet really ought to be thanking our customers and our community for allowing us to be here all this time. This is where we make a living, this is where we raise our families, our children and grandchildren, and we’re just honored to be able to help give back and make this a better community.”
