LOUIS HENRY MANN

Louis Henry Mann, 68, died Monday, October 6 following a brief illness. He was known as “Hank” by his family. Louis was born in Raleigh on September 29, 1946. He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel Nicholson Mann and Margaret Joyce Altman Mann.
Louis was a graduate of Millbrook High School, Louisburg College, and NCSU with a BS in Economics. After college he worked with the NC Dept of Transportation, and later was a real estate appraiser for most of his career. He also managed his real own estate which was a lifelong interest.
Louis is survived by his sister, Margaret Mann Davis and her husband, Ashley; niece, Landy Davis; and nephew, Clarence Ashley “Bo” Davis III.
Louis was a kind, gentle, and generous person with many friends from all walks of life. He cherished each of those friendships.
In his younger years, Louis was an accomplished and competitive sailor. He used to build his own catamarans. He was proud to have once won the NC Governor’s Cup Regatta in his catamaran class. Fishing was also a passion, and he preferred to “catch and release” his fish to be caught another day.
Visitation will be held at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, October 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9 at 11:00 AM at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 125 Hillsborough St., Raleigh. Burial will be at 3:30 PM in Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, North Carolina 27607.
