LET’S DO LUNCH: CMS students Rose Syner and DaSavier Vinson enjoy their spaghetti lunch with bookkeeper Paulette Cole.

CHOCOWINITY — On September 25, students in Laurie Lietz’s life skills class prepared a full meal to thank the individuals who helped them get the year off to a great start. The students selected Principal Micki Warren and Assistant Principal Crystal Dixon because they help keep the students safe each and every day. Michelle Daniels was invited because she had the job of dealing with all of the paperwork sent home at the beginning of the year. Paulette Cole was invited because she made sure they had all the supplies they needed to do their work every day. Lastly, Carleton Roberson, Kedderick  Dailey, and Sarina Gibbs were invited because they keep the classroom clean and ready to go.

The students selected the menu. They served spaghetti with meatballs, tossed salad, garlic bread and homemade brownies. Warren brought some of her “famous” cookies and Cole added red velvet cupcakes.

On Sept. 24, the students visited Walmart and bought all of the ingredients needed to make the meal. They all had individual lists of items to find. Malik Holley and Kenny Patterson assisted with pushing the cart and Harley Mae McKenzie helped bag and load the groceries. Upon returning to school, Trayante Wilkinson helped make the tea. Rose Syner was responsible for cooking the spaghetti noodles and washed all of the dishes. Cameron Moore, DaSavier Vinson, MiKayla Holley and Emmanuel Hamilton made brownies. On Friday, the students helped with stirring the spaghetti sauce. Cameron was assisted by three young ladies from the Circle of Friends group with getting the salads made and the bread ready to bake. Everyone helped with setting the table. A great time was had by all.
