PEGGY T. BATCHELOR

July 10, 1932 – Oct. 20, 2014

 

Mrs. Peggy Taylor Batchelor, age 82, of Washington, died October 20, 2014 following a brief illness.   She was born July 10, 1932 in Halifax County, the daughter of the late E.K. and Edna Minchew Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Caswell Batchelor; brothers, John C. and Alvin R. Taylor; and sister, Edna Earl Avent.  She is survived by her son, Bill, and wife Augusta, of Washington, daughter, Dean Duke and husband Dennis, of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Matt and Beth Batchelor, Reid and Will Duke; brother, Edward “Kit” Taylor (Sharon); sisters, Edith Jackie Hicks (Buck) and Barbara Anne Groome (Tom).

Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and active in the Ruth Sunday School Class.  Peggy was a member of the Washington Park Garden Club and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.  She will always be lovingly remembered for her dedication and commitment to her family.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and other times at the Batchelor home, 415 Bank Street, Washington Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Widow’s Mite Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 113 North Harvey Street, Washington, N.C.  27889.
