A local business offers a monthly workshop as a complimentary service to its current and future customers, giving attendees useful information in using some of its products.
U.S. Cellular in Washington offers a free Device Workshop the fourth Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., where current or potential customers can ask questions and learn about any device they are using or interested in, said Doug Cates, retail area sales manager. The workshop is open to everyone, and you don’t have to be a U.S. Cellular customer to attend.
Cates said each session is personalized according to those in attendance. Nearly one third of smartphone owners said they have watched TV on their phone, and one in five said they have read a book on their phone, according to a U.S. Cellular press release. Devices such as the 4G LTE iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S 5 can provide entertainment on the go, which is part of the reason U.S. Cellular hosts the workshop — to show residents the tips and tricks of using these devices.
“We find that as technology changes and evolves, and as both consumers and businesses get new devices, these workshops are complimentary services we provide to both current and future customers for them to get the most of out their devices,” Cates said.
Cates said the most common things that are demonstrated during the workshops include managing and operating email, using wi-fi and picture messaging. Other detailed demonstrations include the picture capabilities of some devices.
“We really go out of our way to personalize the experience,” Cates said. “Depending on the customer, it may be simple basics such as answering a phone call or getting to the Internet. As the devices are doing more, there are also a lot more accessories and how to get the most out of those.”
The next workshop will be held at the Washington location on Nov. 22.
U.S. Cellular is located at 875 West 15th St., Washington. For more information, contact the store at 252-946-0273.
