The Saints located the end zone in every one of their four drives on Saturday in the Community Youth Football League 10U championship game. Accompanying the offense was a rock solid defense that held Chocowinity to under 50 yards of total offense in an 18-0 win.
A productive offensive line, led by Messiah Ebron, opened up space for the Saints backs to capitalize, including on the first play from scrimmage, when two great blocks led to a 45-yard touchdown run from Noah Manning.
Up 6-0, Washington tacked on another score in the second quarter on a lengthy drive, one that featured two double-digit-yard runs from Manning. In the red zone, it was Terry Moore who punched in the second touchdown of the game.
Washington led 12-0 at the half and would double its total in the final 16 minutes. On the first play second half, Moore struck again, this time on a 40-yard run through the heart of the Chocowinity defense.
And a minute into the third quarter following an Indians punt, an 11-yard run from Moore opened the door for fullback Hayes Pippin to punch it in for the final score of the game.
Moore finished with 77 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries, while Manning notched 89 yards on six carries.
While they may not show up on the stat sheet, guys like Ebron, Jamir Bush, Rakiyus Gibbs and Jeffery Manning all contributed mightily in the win.
